Similarly, if you use it regularly, your sweat can also damage the Airpods. As it is acidic, it can damage the quality of the Airpods.

Don't Use Metal:
Don’t use any metal element to clean your Airpods. This can damage the Airpods and its components. It may scratch the plastic.
Don't Use Wet Material:
As Airpods are not waterproof, therefore don’t use anything wet to clean them. Any direct contact with water can cause Airpods to stop working.
Don't Use Detergents :
Detergents can be dangerous to the Airpods. If you use them, you may end up your Airpods in a very worse condition. Therefore, don’t use detergents.
How to Clean AirPods?

If you want to clean the exterior surface then you can use disinfecting or alcohol wipe. But be careful in using it as it should not touch speaker mesh. You can use a microfiber cloth as well. Slightly wet it and then gently wipe them clean of dirt. But make sure that after that you let them dry.
Now if you want to clean microphone and speaker mesh, then you can use a soft brush and dry cotton swab. But again be careful in cleaning. Don’t push it too hard. The reason is it might get stuck in the mesh. if it gets stuck there, then it will be impossible to get it out from there. The speaker and microphone mesh act as a magnet for dirt and wax. However, if you really want a useful tool for the delicate cleaning of that mesh then use Q-tips.
If your AirPods have been exposed to some sort of liquied such as coffee or soap? then don’t worry, you can clean the stain as well. Just slighty wet the microfiber cloth or Q-tips and gently wipe to clean the stain. However, let your AirPods completely dry before using it again or even charging it.
You can use the same microfiber cloth for cleaning the charging case as well. But sometimes the stains are so stubborn that it take effort and time to clean them out completely. However, if you can’t clean them with the microfiber clothe then you can use the isopropyl alcohol. Just slightly wet the microfiber cloth with this isopropyl alcohol and then rub the case with the microfiber cloth. However, again don’t let any liquid go inside the charging case or near the charging port. It may damage it and your charging case may stop working.
To clean the inside of the charging case, you can slightly dip the Q tip with isopropyl alcohol. However, remove any excess liquid before starting cleaning inside of the charging case. Then you can effectively clean all the spots with the Q tip. But again don’t put any liquid near the charging port otherwise you may end up damaging the Airpords Charging case and it may stop working.
